Rotary's World Wide Involvement
Rotary International is involved in a number of major projects world wide. You will have heard of its on-going campaigns to eradicate polio and stamp out malaria.
Non Rotarians may be rather less aware of some of the other ways in which Rotary gets involved with assisting people in need.
There is the Shelter Box, for example. These contain a large tent, sleeping bags, cooker and water purification, and give warmth and shelter for ten people. All this in one box!
And there's the 'Shoebox' scheme where gift boxes are distributed in orphanages and hospitals in Eastern Europe. Thousands of children have benefited. In many cases, the 'shoebox' is the first time a child has ever received a gift of their own.
